Position Summary: 

The Returns Supervisor, reporting to the Director of Warehouse Operations, is responsible for managing the end-to-end returns process, executing timely and accurate processing of returns, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, training employees on the returns process, managing quality control, and providing leadership and mentorship to warehouse staff. 

Responsibilities: 

End-to-End Returns Management: 

  • Manage the entire returns process, from receiving returned items to processing the disposition of returned items (back-to-stock, salvage, or disposal) and processing the sale of salvage items. 
  • Ensure timely, efficient, and accurate daily processing of returns within Mercana’s ReCommerce platform, including put-away and shipment of return sales. 

Workflow Optimization: 

  • Apply principles of continuous improvement to refine and improve the returns process. 
  • Work closely with the Manager of Reverse Logistics at Head Office to implement best practices and optimize efficiency. 

Employee Training: 

  • Train warehouse employees on the returns process, including proper handling, processing, and documentation procedures. 
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure adherence to established procedures and standards. 

Quality Control Management: 

  • Manage the quality control process at the warehouse, ensuring that returned items are inspected and evaluated according to quality standards. 
  • Conducts regular inventory audits on QC inventory and works with the Quality Control Manager at Head Office to ensure that QC/Quarantine inventory is given a disposition and managed quickly and efficiently. 
  • Implement corrective actions as needed to address quality issues and prevent recurrence. 

Leadership and Team Development: 

  • Lead, manage and hold accountable warehouse staff. 
  • Serve as a member of the warehouse leadership team, providing mentorship, coaching, and training to staff. 
  • Ensure accountability to tasks and deliverables by setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback. 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred. 

  • 3- 5 years proven experience in warehouse operations leadership (as a manger or supervisor), with a focus on returns management. 

  • Strong technical warehousing skills (systems and equipment), experience in inventory control. 

  • Strong understanding of quality control processes and continuous improvement methodologies. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor, coach, and motivate a team. 

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management systems.
