Reporting to the Manager, China, the Quality Control Inspector is responsible for diligently performing exacting inspections on Mercana products during and after the manufacturing process. The Inspector works closely with the Quality Management team in Canada to refine inspection protocols and ensure that all products meet Mercana’s quality standards. The Inspector communicates quality issues directly to the factory management and works with the production teams to ensure that all issues are remediated. The Inspector highlights on-going issues to the QM team and to the Manager. 

Responsibilities: 

Performing QC Inspections: 

  • Conduct quality control inspections on products as directed by the Manager. 

  • Utilize established standards and protocols, including the Qarma application, to assess product quality, ensuring they meet Mercana's high-quality standards. 

  • Maintain a keen eye for detail and consistency throughout the inspection process. 

Preparing QC Inspection Reports: 

  • Prepare comprehensive and accurate reports, using the Qarma application, detailing the findings of QC inspections. 

  • Document any defects, discrepancies, or issues identified during inspections. 

  • Ensure timely and complete reporting within the Qarma system to facilitate timely decision-making. 

Collaborating with the Canadian QC Team and Factories: 

  • Work closely with the Canadian QC team to align on quality standards and expectations. 

  • Collaborate with factory personnel to resolve specific quality issues, providing guidance and support as needed. 

  • Communicate effectively with the Canadian team, leveraging the Qarma application, to ensure a unified approach to quality control. 

Resolving Specific Product Issues: 

  • Collaborate with factory and Product Development teams to resolve specific product-related quality issues. 

  • Identify root causes of quality problems and work with cross-functional teams, utilizing the Qarma application, to implement corrective actions. 

  • Ensure that product quality improvements are effectively communicated and implemented using Qarma. 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): 

  • Speed and Efficiency: Complete inspections efficiently within the Qarma application without compromising the quality of evaluations. 

  • Timeliness and Completeness: Ensure inspection reports are submitted promptly and contain all necessary information within the Qarma system. 

  • Accuracy: Maintain a high level of accuracy in identifying and documenting product quality issues using Qarma. 

  • Resolution Effectiveness: Measure the success of resolving quality issues and improvements in product quality within the Qarma framework. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 

  • Proven experience in quality control inspections, preferably in the furniture or manufacturing industry. 

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency in evaluations. 

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and collaboration. 

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify root causes of quality issues. 

  • Problem-solving skills to work effectively in resolving quality-related challenges. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. 

  • Familiarity with quality control standards and protocols. 

  • Previous experience working with international teams and using the Qarma application is a plus.
